S Block – Hair and Beauty

The existing hair and beauty facilities at the Cairns campus needed consolidation and modernisation to enhance the public experience and training opportunities for the students.

The redevelopment of this space brought together the hair and beauty precincts to Level 2 of S Block, creating a space that is inviting, easy to navigate and pairs as a training and service space. The introduction of new equipment provides students with an insight into working in real salons whilst providing a luxurious experience for clients at the new facility.

Integration of equipment and custom-designed joinery was an integral focus in these interior spaces with an emphasis on acoustics, and finishes that evoked calm and immersed the user in nature.

H Block – Student Hub

The existing eatery at H Block is located at the heart of the Cairns Campus. The eatery lacked amenity and was under-utilised.

The redevelopment of this space created a multifaceted student hub encompassing social learning spaces, student facilities and designated eating areas servicing the updated campus café. The upgrade included a new commercial kitchen for the campus café which facilitates training for hospitality students in preparation and service.

Pockets of individual and collaborative learning spaces were created with custom joinery to inform circulation paths and zoning.  The combination of carefully selected acoustic elements and a natural palette including greenery creates a vibrant and inviting space.
