Mazda + Mitsubishi Showroom – Mareeba

Abandoned and neglected for a number years on the main street of Mareeba, the premises for the new Mazda and Mitsubishi Car Dealership was formerly one of the largest bakeries on the Atherton Tablelands. With a unique drive thru facility, local kids including the new owner, architect and architectural technician for the project recall memories of cream buns and other baked goods exchanged through car windows.

Mareeba Mazda and Mitsubishi were seeking to consolidate the various sections of their business into a single modern premise with greater street exposure and appeal. The project is an adaptive re-use of an existing building that completely retains the existing structure.  The existing drive thru was enclosed to create one showroom with an extension added to the southern side of the building for a second showroom.  Separate identities were required for each of the car manufacturers within a single development envelope and unifying aesthetic.
